A Tribute to Our Founder, Nathan M. Bisk

Pioneer. Entrepreneur. Visionary.

Nathan Bisk in front of Total Tape sign, the name of the company before he changed it to Bisk Education

My father, Nathan M. Bisk, founded Bisk in 1971 with the vision that quality education should be accessible to everyone. He pioneered distance learning from cassette tapes to online education and grew the company from humble beginnings in our garage to hundreds of employees supporting thousands of students around the world.

Dad was the first person in his family to earn a college degree. He grew up working alongside his father at their window washing business. Throughout his life, he kept his father’s business card framed on his desk so that he wouldn’t forget where he came from. Today, I have my father and my grandfather’s business cards framed on my desk. They remind me of the power of education to change lives, the value of hard work, and the legacy that has been entrusted to me.

My dad not only believed in the American dream – he lived the American dream. He always said education has the power to change your life and that it’s something nobody can take away from you.

Today, Bisk remains deeply rooted in our unwavering commitment to educational innovation. This is fueled by our profound belief in the potential of people and the power of learning. We are passionate about shaping the future of education and look forward to ushering the next wave of digital learning into the future.
